How to Apply

Peter Kiewit Foundation gives primary consideration to proposals that are most closely aligned to Mr. Kiewit’s intent. Here are the six steps you need to follow to apply:

1. Review PKF Goals and Grantmaking Approach

Please read through our What We Fund page and identify the Strategic Priority your request most closely aligns with.

2. Speak with a Community Investment Officer

A representative from your organization should connect with the Community Investment Officer (CIO) within the strategy identified to discuss the proposed project, confirm eligibility to apply, and determine alignment to foundation goals.

3. Complete a Request Summary

In most cases, a brief written summary of the request will be needed to determine alignment and readiness. Community Investment Officers (CIO) will send this out after they had a chance to visit with you about your project. If eligibility, alignment, and readiness are confirmed, a CIO will issue a URL link to our online application.

4. Complete the Application

Please follow the foundation guidelines to complete your application through the online grant application portal. The checklists below can be used to support and guide you in completing the applications:

Capital Funding Questions

General Operating Funding Questions

Program Funding Questions

5. Submit the Application

If any information is missing from your application or we have additional questions regarding your application, a Community Investment Officer will contact the person specified on your application.

6. Communicate Changes

Please inform the CIO you connected with of any significant organizational, programmatic, or financial changes impacting the project or organization that occur after an application has been submitted and prior to receiving a decision on your request.
